WHAT’S GOING ON UP THERE? UNDERSTANDING COACHING AND THE BRAIN TO BUILD BUSINESS PERFORMANCE

Program

Through this interactive workshop, participants will learn about neuroscience and what happens in the brain with different approaches to coaching. Discussion combined with partner and small group activities will address both Compassionate change and Compliance change approaches. A Compassionate approach is focused on the team or coach’s vision and ideal self or team, while a Compliance approach is focused on the organization’s objectives and goals. Both are important for sustained change for both individuals and organizations. Through this workshop, participants will gain tools and tips to bring change to individuals and teams, and what happens neurologically in the brain when these approaches are used.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Build skills and methods that support a balance of both compassion and compliance approaches to drive successful, sustained change in behavior with data from fMRI studies.
  2. Use the different levels of listening and the effectiveness of each level.
  3. Use the Intentional Change Theory (ICT) as a psychological model for sustained behavior change.

ATD Capability Model

WHAT’S GOING ON UP THERE? will touch upon Building Personal Capability: Compliance and Ethical Behavior. Compliance and ethical behavior refer to the expectation that a talent development professional acts with integrity and operates within the laws that govern where they work and live. For talent development professionals it may also require knowledge of and abiding by the regulations and laws related to content creation, accessibility, human resources, employment, and public policies.
